If there's one thing we know about The Devil Wears Prada 2, it's that it's stuffed to the gills -- with flashy outfits, with fabulous locales, with withering barbs from Meryl Streep's Miranda Priestly. Apparently, though, there's so much going on that there wasn't enough room for a Sydney Sweeney cameo. According to Entertainment Weekly, the Euphoria star shot a scene for the film as herself only for it to wind up on the cutting-room floor.
Amid a flurry of fake celebrity sightings on the DWP2 set last year, it turns out Sweeney's presence was actually real. EW reported that Sweeney filmed a scene that helped reintroduce Emily Blunt's character, Emily Charlton, who is now the head of U.S. operations for Dior. In the scene, Blunt was apparently helping dress Sweeney prior to the arrival of Miranda & Co. Per EW, the three-minute Sweeney scene wasn't working "structurally" with the rest of the sequence and had to be cut.
However, there's no bad blood. EW noted that the filmmakers were "grateful" for Sweeney's participation and that it was a "difficult" decision to leave her out of the movie. I have to imagine this was the right decision. This movie doesn't really need cameos from celebs playing themselves -- the first one didn't -- let alone a three-minute one from Sweeney. No offense to her, but in movie time, three minutes is an eternity.
